Part of Alberta Culture’s Occasional Paper series, Archaeology in Alberta was an annual publication that highlighted and reported on research activities undertaken in Alberta during the year, emphasizing those investigations which yielded new contributions to the knowledge of archaeology in the province or which constituted continuations of existing investigations.
The Archaeological Society of Alberta (ASA) comprises over members living across Alberta and beyond. There are six Centres (Calgary, Bodo, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Southeastern and Strathcona), each with their own elected officials. These Centres host a variety of speaker series, workshops, fieldtrips, and other archaeological events.
Professional qualifications. All archaeological investigations in Alberta must be conducted by a professional who meets the minimum requirements set out under the Archaeological and Palaeontological Research Permit Regulation. Prior to applying for their first permit in Alberta, an archaeologist must request a review of their qualifications by emailing the Director, Archaeological.
